The U.S. Army has issued a second request for information for a potential five-year, $4 billion follow-on contract for commercial information technology hardware and services, Bloomberg Government reported Friday.
The latest RFI suggests that the service may compete the Common Hardware Systems 6th Generation contract as a multiple-award contract and considers CHS-6 to have a small business set-aside portion.
The government has yet to determine the performance period or estimated value of the CHS-6 contract, but BGOV’s predictive value for the recompete is based on the details of the existing contract, CHS-5.
General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) is the incumbent on the $3.9 billion CHS-5 single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that was awarded in September 2018. The company has secured contract obligations worth about $1.04 billion on more than 400 task orders under the current IDIQ that is set to expire in August 2023.
The Army will accept responses to the RFI through Feb. 16 and plans to host an industry day by March 30 to provide interested vendors with more information on the follow-on contract.
