Peraton has received a $109.1 million contract from the U.S. Space Force to continue providing maintenance support for the Space Weather Analysis and Forecast System, or SWAFS, through 2033.
The Department of War said Friday the hybrid fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract was a sole-source acquisition.
What Is the Scope of the Space Force Contract?
Under the contract, Peraton will provide maintenance, sustainment, legacy capability migration and continued development and integration of enhancements to SWAFS cybersecurity and operations.
Work will occur in Colorado Springs, Colorado, through Feb. 18, 2033.
The Space Systems Command’s directorate of contracting in Colorado obligated $3.8 million in fiscal 2026 operations and maintenance funds and $1.1 million in fiscal 2026 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of the award.
What Is SWAFS?
SWAFS is a cloud-based platform designed to provide real-time assessments of solar flares, solar winds and other space weather events that can have an immense impact on satellites, power grids and communication systems.
Peraton said SWAFS 2.0 will help operators identify and evaluate communication interference, on-orbit anomalies and false-echo returns for radar systems. It will also support military navigation operations through an updated capacity for data collation and correlation.
According to a December 2025 SSC briefing, the second iteration of SWAFS was already operational on the Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network and projected to become operational on the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network and the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System in January.
In 2021, Perspecta, now part of Peraton, received a potential five-year, $71 million contract to provide data analysis assistance for SWAFS.
