Maxar Technologies SSL subsidiary has secured a position on a potential five-year, $750M contract from NASA to develop spacecraft technologies for the Defense Department.
SSL is among three contractors selected to support the the Small Spacecraft Prototyping Engineering Development and IntegrationSpace Solutions program managed by NASA’s Ames Research Center, Maxar said Monday.
Richard White, president of government systems business at SSL, said the company works to grow its pipeline for military and civil space programs.
White added that the business’ focus on small-form-factor satellites for government use complements a suite of technology offerings intended to support space mission assurance, infrastructure and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
NASA Ames manages the SSPEDI indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract through an interagency agreement with the DoD’s Space Rapid Capabilities Office.
