HII Mission Technologies Welcomes Michael DeBernardis as VP & Chief Counsel

HII announced Tuesday that it has appointed Michael DeBernardis as vice president and chief counsel for the company’s Mission Technologies division.

DeBernardis will take on the lead responsibility for legal services and strategic counsel while supporting the division’s work in areas ranging from defense and intelligence to cyber, fleet sustainment and nuclear services.

“As HII continues to expand its integrated technology portfolio and deliver mission-enabling capabilities to customers around the world, Michael’s proven leadership, strategic judgment and deep experience navigating complex regulatory environments will be invaluable as we support our customers’ most critical missions,” said Andy Green, executive vice president of HII and president of HII Mission Technologies and an eight-time Wash100 Award winner.

What Is Michael DeBernardis’ Professional Experience?

DeBernardis arrives at HII with close to two decades advising government contractors, global corporations and multinational organizations on legal, compliance, governance and investigations matters. Before joining HII, DeBernardis was managing partner of the Washington, D.C., office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed and chaired the firm’s Global Investigations, Enforcement and Compliance practice. His background includes representing clients before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations and various international development institutions.

What Are the Other Organizational Changes at HII Mission Technologies?

A week before DeBernardis was appointed, HII Mission Technologies named retired U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Frederick Roegge as vice president of operations for its nuclear and environmental team. The Mission Technologies division also saw the departures of Rich Fisne, senior vice president of contracts, procurement, pricing, and compliance, and Ashutosh Gokhale, chief financial officer. Both Fisne and Gokhale accepted leadership roles at Modern Technology Solutions Inc.
