NGA Picks Six Entities to Advance Studies in Geospatial Analytics

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has selected six entities to conduct advanced geospatial analytics research efforts as part of the Boosting Innovative GEOINT Broad Agency Announcement program.

Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), OGSystems and SRI International will leverage machine learning technologies for agricultural crop assessment, spectral dataset processing and infrastructure management, NGA said Tuesday.

The efforts will fall under BIG BAA research subtopic 6.2, which calls for new approaches that will help automate data characterization for small areas of interest.

Meanwhile, Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH), Decisive Analytics Corporation and the University of Texas Applied Research Laboratory will provide proposals that will offer a more timely and accurate production of foundation geospatial intelligence data, which describes the Earth™s physical and cultural features.

Raytheon will also participate in the effort for foundation GEOINT data or BIG BAA research topic 6.3.

The BIG BAA contracts will help NGA determine the value of GEOINT data delivered to various customers in the cloud.
