Cerner Forms Advisory Group to Support Work on VA Health Record Modernization Effort

Cerner (Nasdaq: CERN) has established an advisory group that will offer recommendations as the Kansas City, Missouri-based health information technology provider supports the Department of Veterans Affairs in its Electronic Health Record Modernization initiative.

Bob Kerrey, former U.S. senator and Nebraska governor, will lead the company™s VA advisory group, Cerner said Wednesday.

Travis Dalton, a senior vice president at Cerner, said the advisory team will provide guidance and advice to help the company improve the delivery of health care services to retired service personnel as part of the EHR modernization program with VA.

Other members of the VA advisory group include:

Daphne Bascom, SVP and medical director of community integrated health for the YMCA of Greater Kansas City
Donald Scott, a retired brigadier general in the U.S. Army
James Peake, SVP at CGI Federal
Jonathan Perlin, president of clinical services and chief medical officer for Hospital Corporation of America
Karen DeSalvo, former director of the Office of the National Coordinator at the Department of Health and Human Services
Marina Martin, former VA chief technology officer
Roger Baker, former VA chief information officer
Vivian Greentree, SVP and head of global corporate citizenship at First Data Corp.

Cerner is part of an industry team consists of Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) and Accenture (NYSE: ACN) that won a multi-year, multibillion dollar contract from the Defense Department in 2015 to perform integration work on a commercial electronic health records platform across the Military Health System.
