India has approved a deal to buy six additional Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) Apache helicopters for approximately $654.6 million, Reuters reported Thursday.
India™s defense acquisition council on Thursday cleared the deal that also covers related equipment, spares, weapons, ammunition and training support.
The decision came nearly two years after the country™s cabinet gave the green light for the procurement of Apache attack aircraft and Chinook heavy-lift helicopters in a deal worth approximately $2.5 billion.
Boeing also announced plans in February to establish a defense business unit in India as part of the aircraft maker™s expansion efforts in the South Asian country.
