SAS Adds Rich Kolberg, Garrison Thompson to Business Development VP Team

Special Aerospace Services, or SAS, has expanded its executive team with key leadership appointments. 

On Monday, the space, hypersonics and missile defense company named Rich Kolberg and Garrison Thompson as its new vice presidents of business development

The announcement follows Adam Liddle’s announcement in late May that he has assumed the responsibilities of business development VP at SAS. In their new role, Kolberg and Thompson will work with Liddle to lead the expansion of the company’s capability portfolio for space, defense and intel markets and implement strategies to capture new business opportunities. 

Rich Kolberg’s Career Highlights

Kolberg brings to the role over 25 years of leadership in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.

Prior to SAS, he held the position of senior portfolio manager at Boeing Defense’s Space Ground & Intelligence Mission Operations. In the role, he oversees business development initiatives for the company’s space systems and national security programs. 

He is also a retired officer for the U.S. Air Force and served in the North American Aerospace Defense Command and the U.S. NORTHERN COMMAND and was chief of the 2nd Bomb Wing Plans and Programs. 

Garrison Thompson Professional Background

Meanwhile, Thompson has over 30 years of experience in aerospace, defense and commercial technology sectors. 

He held executive leadership positions such as chief operating officer, chief technologist and strategic markets VP at various organizations before joining SAS. 

The industry expert also has extensive experience working with the Department of Defense and NASA in spaceflight, launch modernization and range training initiatives. He previously received the Space Flight Awareness Launch Honoree Award from NASA for his contributions to the Space Shuttle Mission STS-111.
