Mac Curtis, former chairman of the board at Cubic and a current board member at Blue Delta Capital Partners and MetroStar, has received his 2025 Wash100 Award from Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson.
The former Cubic executive has been honored with the prestigious Wash100 Award nine times since 2015. Curtis was also presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for this incredible feat.
The Wash100 Award, founded by Garrettson in 2014, recognizes the top executives in government and government contracting who have demonstrated invaluable leadership, significant impact, and potential in shaping the industry’s future.
“Few leaders have left as lasting a mark on GovCon as Mac Curtis. A nine-time Wash100 winner and now a lifetime achievement honoree, Mac has been a C-suite and boardroom fixture for 25 years, guiding companies through transformational growth, high-stakes acquisitions and industry-defining deals,” said Garrettson.
“Most recently chairman of the board at Cubic Corporation, he previously held the same role at Perspecta and has been a trusted senior adviser to many of the sector’s most critical organizations. Mac’s leadership, strategic foresight and deep industry expertise have shaped GovCon in immeasurable ways—and while he may be taking a deserved step back (for now), his impact will be felt for years to come,” Garrettson continued.
Leading Cubic’s Growth and Innovation Efforts
Curtis earned his latest Wash100 recognition for driving Cubic’s growth and developing mission-critical technologies supporting government customers’ missions. This is showcased through the significant contracts secured by the company in 2024 under Curtis’ leadership.
Cubic Defense landed a couple of contracts from the Naval Air Systems Command, including the deal it received for services associated with KnightLink, a full-motion video system for the MH-60 Sierra helicopter fleet. The company landed a contract modification to provide Secure Live Virtual and Constructive Advanced Training Environment, or SLATE, technology in support of a demonstration in Guam.
Cubic was selected by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency as one of the partners on the Air Combat Evolution program. In September, the company struck a deal with the U.S. Navy and Air Force to manufacture encrypted Air Combat Maneuvering systems. Early in 2025, the company received a contract from Lockheed Martin to provide P5 Internal Subsystems for the F-35 program.
Curtis was also recognized for guiding Cubic through a critical leadership transition phase. After stepping down as chairman of the board, Curtis provided support to Cubic President and CEO Stevan Slijepcevic as he transitioned to his additional role.
Congratulations to Mac Curtis on his ninth Wash100 Award and Lifetime Achievement Award! Executive Mosaic is again honored to count him among the industry’s top executives.
