Amentum CEO John Heller has accepted the 2025 Wash100 Award, which recognizes his leadership in the company’s merger with Jacobs’ critical mission solutions and cyber and intelligence businesses and transformation to a publicly traded firm.
Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson paid a visit to Amentum’s office to personally congratulate Heller for his ninth Wash100 win.
“John is a transformational leader who doesn’t just navigate change—he drives it,” said Garrettson, who founded the Wash100 Award in 2014.
The Wash100 Award is conferred annually to 100 of the most impactful leaders in government and government contracting. The award recognizes transformative leadership, significant contributions and potential to revolutionize the future of the industry.
Amentum as a Leading Government Partner
Amentum closed its merger with Jacobs’ businesses in September 2024, expanding the Chantilly, Virginia-headquartered company’s capability to deliver industry-leading technology and engineering services to government customers.
According to Heller, the merger created an organization that “advances the future” and is poised to become a key player in the space and the intelligence markets.
During an October 2024 event, he shared that the space economy is estimated to become worth $1.8 trillion in 10 years. The former U.S. Army officer also said that Amentum can now compete with leaders in the intelligence marketplace for “billion-dollar-plus contracts.”
However, the company will continue its work in environmental remediation, Heller assured.
“Nuclear remediations really related to the Manhattan Project and all the nuclear development that [the U.S. has done] since World War II,” he said. “It’s estimated that there is still approximately $500 billion of work to completely remediate what [the U.S.] created as a result of the Manhattan Project.”
In 2024, Amentum also captured several major contract awards, including a $490 million deal to provide comprehensive contractor logistics services in support of the modernization of the Navy’s training aircraft fleet. The Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure, Amentum’s joint venture with BWX Technologies and Fluor, also won a $45 billion contract from the Department of Energy to manage tank waste at the Hanford Site.
Congratulations to John Heller and the Amentum team!
