Cubic Secures $399M Air Force Follow-On Contract for P5CTS Logistics Support

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Cubic Defense Applications a potential $399 million follow-on firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for P5 Combat Training System logistics support for domestic and international defense customers.

Work under the sole-source contract will be performed in San Diego, California, through June 9, 2032, and will involve foreign military sales to Australia, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Poland, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Singapore, the Department of Defense said on Tuesday.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, obligated 2.9 million in fiscal 2025 FMS funds at the time of award.

Previous P5CTS Contract Awards

The initial P5CTS logistics support contract, valued at $193.3 million, was awarded in 2020, replacing a prior award that expired July 20 of the same year for continuous system logistics support and additional depot-level services to address P5CTS FMS and non-FMS requirements.

P5CTS provides real-time air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons simulation for training pilots; offers high-fidelity continuous time, space, position information transmission and real-time kill notifications using a long-range data link; and delivers voice communications-based kill notifications to aircrew, Cubic said. The system comprises ground stations and GPS-enabled airborne instrumentation pods that support weapons execution functions and record data in real time to help airmen evaluate performance during exercises.

In late 2019, the company secured an Air Force contract to manufacture P5CTS pods for the service branch and an international client. In 2021, Cubic received a similar contract to deliver P5CTS pods at various range facilities located within the continental U.S. Leonardo DRS serves as Cubic’s principal airborne instrumentation pod subcontractor.
