The Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation has awarded NW Construction a potential $255 million contract to support a construction project at B.F. Sisk Dam in California.
According to an award notice published Tuesday, the contract will support work on Phase II of the B.F. Sisk Safety of Dams, or SOD, Modifications project.
Contract Scope
According to a solicitation issued in November, the project includes construction of shear keys, berms and internal drainage zones; installation of toe drains, inspection wells and weir boxes; installation of new instrumentation and protection of existing instrumentation; development of a new drainage ditch and backfill; and construction of a new equipment laydown yard.
Under the Phase II B.F. Sisk Dam SOD Modifications contract, the vendor will also maintain government field offices and laboratory facilities; install and monitor environmental mitigation measures; supply and transport materials; and place gravel surfacing for new roads.
B.F. Sisk Dam
Also known as San Luis Dam, B.F. Sisk is a 380-foot-high embankment owned by the Bureau of Reclamation and operated by the California Department of Water Resources.
The 3-mile-long dam impounds San Luis Reservoir. It was developed from 1963 to 1967 to provide supplemental irrigation water storage for the federal Central Valley Project and municipal and industrial water for the California State Water Project.
