State Department Clears Iraq's $300M FMS Request for Bell Helicopter Logistics Support

Textron‘s (NYSE: TXT) Bell subsidiary will possibly provide aircraft maintenance and logistics support services to the Iraqi government under a potential $300 million foreign military sales agreement approved by the State Department.

The services will add to a previously awarded FMS deal worth $28 million and support three Bell 407 variants, 206B3, OH-58A/C Kiowa, Huey II and 505 helicopters, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.

Iraq also requested studies and surveys and engineering, technical, logistics and program support services.

The proposed FMS transaction requires the assignment of four additional government or contractor representatives to Iraq for one year to support contracted logistics support for Bell 505 aircraft.

The seven contractor and government representatives currently deployed to Iraq will remain in the country for another two years to extend aircraft maintenance services.

DSCA noted that the deal will enable Iraq to strengthen its homeland defense against current and future threats.
