SMX Appoints Former SOSi Executive Robert Longo as SVP of Capture, Business Development

SMX has appointed Robert Longo as senior vice president of capture strategy and business development for its enterprise systems and solutions business unit.

The company announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday, highlighting Longo’s over two decades of executive leadership experience in steering enterprise-level modernizations and growth strategies across the full spectrum of the public sector market.

Who Is Robert Longo?

Longo most recently served as vice president of strategic growth and product strategy at SOSi, where he focused on cloud, enterprise resource planning, payroll, software-as-a-service and artificial intelligence modernization initiatives for federal government clients. He also supported enterprise strategy and major capture efforts.

Prior to SOSi, Longo spent more than a decade at General Dynamics Information Technology. As senior director of strategic growth and solution strategy, he led enterprise capture operations and pipeline governance supporting homeland security, foreign affairs and federal civilian markets. His work included directing GDIT’s “Top Ten Deals” program and influencing major contract awards.

Earlier in his career, Longo held leadership roles at CGI and American Management Systems, supporting enterprise software modernization and revenue modernization initiatives for state governments. He also worked at PeopleSoft and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

Across his career, Longo reports contributing to more than $11 billion in revenue growth and managing multibillion-dollar pipelines.

Longo holds a master’s degree in business administration with distinction from the University at Albany and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University at Buffalo. He also completed a project management certificate program at New York University.

How Does Longo’s Appointment Align with SMX’s Modernization Goals?

Longo joins SMX as the company continues expanding its enterprise systems, cybersecurity and digital modernization portfolio. The appointment follows SMX’s recent achievement of Level 2 certification under the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification 2.0 program, validating its implementation of security practices to protect controlled unclassified information.

SMX provides cybersecurity, data and analytics, enterprise applications, mission operations support, and modeling and simulation services to the Department of War, the intelligence community and other federal agencies.
