BWX Technologies (NYSE: BWXT) booked contract options worth potentially $1.04 billion combined in the fourth quarter of 2021 to manufacture components and supply fuel products for the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
BWXT said Wednesday its nuclear operations group will provide component manufacturing services to support the U.S. Navy’s Columbia- and Virginia-class nuclear submarines under an $840 million option while its nuclear fuel services subsidiary will perform work under the second option valued at $200 million.
Services will take place in Lynchburg, Virginia; Barberton and Euclid, Ohio; Mount Vernon, Indiana; and Erwin, Tennessee.
“For more than 65 years, we have enabled U.S. sailors to fulfill their missions across the globe, while also supporting our communities here at home with thousands of manufacturing jobs,” said Joel Duling, president of BWXT Nuclear Operations Group.
The Lynchburg, Virginia-based company reported its Q4 bookings after announcing a reorganization initiative that creates two operating segments focused on the government and commercial markets.
