By Light Professional IT Services has appointed Diane Hockenberry as chief marketing officer to lead enterprise marketing, brand strategy and product commercialization efforts across its cyber division and modeling, simulation and training business.
The company said Monday Hockenberry will help position its portfolio of mission technologies, which span cyber operations, AI-enabled training and warfighter readiness platforms.
“Our technologies are transforming how warfighters prepare, train, and operate—driving greater realism, resilience, and readiness across modern defense missions,” Hockenberry said. “I’m honored to join a team whose expertise and ingenuity are shaping the future of national security.”
What Experience Does Diane Hockenberry Bring?
Hockenberry brings over two decades of experience across technology, aerospace and defense sectors, with a background in marketing, communications and strategic positioning.
She most recently served as senior director of strategic communications and marketing at Trident, formerly LightRidge Solutions, a private equity-backed defense technology platform. Her prior roles include corporate communications leadership at Iridium Communications and marketing leadership at WAMU 88.5, a National Public Radio affiliate in Washington, D.C.
By Light CEO Bob Donahue said Hockenberry’s experience connecting commercial innovation with operational requirements will support the company’s growth strategy: “delivering next-generation cyber mission environments and AI-enabled training systems that redefine mission readiness.”
How Is By Light Expanding Its Defense Technology Portfolio?
The appointment comes as By Light continues to expand its platform through acquisitions and contract work. The company recently acquired Dignitas Technologies to enhance its modeling and simulation capabilities, including support for mission rehearsal applications and live, virtual and constructive training environments.
By Light’s recent milestones also include a November 2025 Defense Information Systems Agency intent to award the company a sole-source Full Content Inspection managed service contract. This follows a major $500 million Army contract from April 2023 to develop the Reconfigurable Virtual Collective Trainer for aviation and ground units.
By Light is a Sagewind Capital portfolio company.
