Former Army Assistant Secretary Heidi Shyu Nominated to Oversee DOD’s Research, Engineering

President Joe Biden has nominated Heidi Shyu, who was the U.S. Army’s assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology from 2012 to 2016, to become the undersecretary of the Department of Defense for research and engineering.

Shyu serves on the boards of multiple technology and investment companies, such as Auterion Government Solutions, Levitate Capital and VK Integrated Systems, the White House said Tuesday.

Prior to beginning her term as ASA(ALT) in September 2012, Shyu held the post in an acting capacity from June 2011.

The nominee’s career in the industry includes time as vice president at the former Raytheon company, where she led its technology strategy for space and airborne systems in 2010.

Shyu has also chaired Roboteam North America’s board. She provides consulting services from her own company named after herself.
