Bharat Amin to Assume VP, CIO Roles at Huntington Ingalls Subsidiary

Bharat Amin, formerly chief information officer at BAE Systems‘ land and armaments division, will join Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division on Dec. 15 as vice president and CIO.

He will lead strategic direction and information systems management in his new position and succeeds Leni Kaufman, who is retiring after a 35-year career, HII said Tuesday.

“We look forward to working with Bharat and putting his extensive engineering and IT experience to work in this very important role, ” said Matt Mulherin, president of Newport News Shipbuilding.

Amin is also a mechanical engineer and his background includes work on technology development, cybersecurity, project implementation and business processes.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration and industrial engineering.
