General Dynamics Awarded Potential $24.1B Contract Modification for Block V Virginia-Class Submarines

General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat subsidiary has received a potential $24.1B contract modification to build nine Block V Virginia-class submarines. Electric Boat will work with Huntington Ingalls Industries' (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division to build the submarines under the multiyear contract, which includes an option for one additional vessel with the Virginia Payload Module.

Phebe Novakovic: General Dynamics Eyes Columbia-Class Submarine Construction Kickoff in 2020

Phebe Novakovic, chairman and CEO of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and a 2019 Wash100 award winner, said the Reston, Va.-based defense contractor expects to start building the U.S. Navy’s Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine by the end of 2020, the Washington Business Journal reported Wednesday.
