HII Promotes Julia Jones, Gary Fuller to VP Roles; Jennifer Boykin Quoted

Julia Jones, most recently director of operations integration at Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII), has been named vice president of manufacturing and facilities within the company's Newport News Shipbuilding division. HII said Monday it also promoted Gary Fuller, former director of test engineering for the company's nuclear propulsion unit, as VP of fleet support programs at Newport News Shipbuilding.

General Dynamics Awarded Potential $24.1B Contract Modification for Block V Virginia-Class Submarines

General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat subsidiary has received a potential $24.1B contract modification to build nine Block V Virginia-class submarines. Electric Boat will work with Huntington Ingalls Industries' (NYSE: HII) Newport News Shipbuilding division to build the submarines under the multiyear contract, which includes an option for one additional vessel with the Virginia Payload Module.

Phebe Novakovic: General Dynamics Eyes Columbia-Class Submarine Construction Kickoff in 2020

Phebe Novakovic, chairman and CEO of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and a 2019 Wash100 award winner, said the Reston, Va.-based defense contractor expects to start building the U.S. Navy’s Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine by the end of 2020, the Washington Business Journal reported Wednesday.
