General Atomics‘ aeronautical systems business has received a potential $370.9 million contract to build 30 MQ-9 Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles for the U.S. Air Force.
The Air Force is obligating the full contract amount at the time of award from its aircraft procurement funds in fiscal years 2014 and 2015, the Defense Departmentsaid Monday.
Work will occur in Poway, California through May 31, 2019.
The MQ-9 is equipped with wide-range sensors, a multimode communications suite and precision weapons and designed to disable or destroy time-sensitive targets during strike coordination and reconnaissance missions, according to the Air Force.
