The Defense Health Agency has awarded TriWest Healthcare Alliance $6.8 billion to continue providing healthcare and administrative services in support of its Tricare program, an integrated healthcare delivery system for active duty service members, retirees and their loved ones.
The agency is exercising Option Period Two of a previous contract awarded in December 2022, according to the Department of War Friday. The option year period of performance is Jan. 1, 2026, to Dec. 31, 2026.
Work will be performed in Phoenix, Arizona. DHA’s Managed Care Contracting Division in Aurora, Colorado, serves as the contracting activity.

How Is TriWest Supporting DHA’s TRICARE Program?
The original contract, valued at up to $136 billion, covers healthcare, claims processing, customer service and other administrative support services to 9.6 million beneficiaries.
TriWest secured up to $65.1 billion to support the West Region, including Alaska.
Meanwhile, Humana Government Business is in charge of the East Region under a $70.9 billion contract.
Each contract has a one-year base period, eight 12-month option periods and a transition-out period.
