A study conducted by Deltek and the Public Technology Institute indicates positive signs of recovery for local government spending on information technology, the Washington Post reported Monday.
Chris Dixon, a Delter senior manager of state and local industry analysis, writes 235 responses were collected from city and county IT executives, who represent $1.2 billion in buying power.
Thirty-one percent of local chief information officers surveyed expected budget increases within their jurisdiction this year and 70 percent said their leadership considers IT investments as a tool to save money.
Dixon writes contractors can find business opportunities as local agencies explore ways to automate technical processes and balance IT resources on premise and in the cloud.
