Kevin Toner to Lead Mitre’s Government Support Efforts as VP

Kevin Toner, former managing director of treasury, economics and commerce at Mitre, has been elevated to the role of vice president of the organization’s Center for Government Effectiveness and Modernization.

He will lead the team that supports work programs and emerging technologies under the federally funded Center for Enterprise Modernization, Mitre said Thursday.

CEM is a research development facility with interagency support from the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration and the departments of the Treasury, Veterans Affairs and Commerce. Toner’s new responsibilities involve directing services in CEM’s programs in autonomy, data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity and human-machine interfaces.

The executive’s background in the government sector spans almost 30 years. He was in the U.S. Air Force as an active-duty captain and chief of program control. 

He joined Mitre in 2000 and has served in various positions that supported the IRS, Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security and Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
