Defense Contractors Ask Government to Backfill DoD Money Used to Cover COVID-19 Expenses

The CEOs of eight defense contractors wrote separate letters to the White House and the Department of Defense saying that the money sourced from DoD’s budget to help companies retain highly skilled employees during the COVID-19 pandemic should be replaced with new funds to prevent military modernization programs from being jeopardized, Reuters reported Thursday.

Ellen Lord: DoD Eyes First CMMC Training Course for Auditors in April

Ellen Lord, undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment and a 2020 Wash100 award winner, said the Department of Defense will conduct a public hearing on the new cybersecurity standards in late April or early May with plans to start the first Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification training course for auditors in April, National Defense reported Wednesday. McAleese & Associates has released a report on key takeaways from the remarks of Michael Griffin, undersecretary for research and engineering at the Department of Defense and a 2019 Wash100 award winner, at a Chamber of Commerce event held Tuesday. Griffin said the Pentagon must have a dedicated proliferated LEO system or constellation of small satellites in low-Earth orbit designed for the existential U.S. survival mission.
