Leidos Strikes $1.65B Cash Deal for Dynetics; Roger Krone Quoted

Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) has agreed to acquire Huntsville, Ala.-based technology services contractor Dynetics for approximately $1.65B in cash to further build up its position in the intelligence, civil and defense markets. "The addition of Dynetics will significantly increase our capabilities for rapid prototyping and agile system integration and production, enhancing our overall offerings and services to customers," said Roger Krone, chairman and CEO of Leidos and a 2019 Wash100 winner.

Corporate Dev’t Execs Say M&A Opportunities Could Emerge From Business Unit Divestitures

Executives from Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), ManTech International (Nasdaq: MANT), Parsons (NYSE: PSN) and Jacobs Engineering Group (NYSE: JEC) said they believe divestitures of smaller business units resulting from major mergers and acquisitions in the past two years could drive the next wave of M&As in the government contracting market, the Washington Business Journal reported Wednesday.

Four Firms Awarded Prototype Dev’t Contracts in Support of MDA Space Sensor Program

Four companies have won separate contracts from the Missile Defense Agency to come up with payload design prototypes for the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor Program. The Department of Defense said Tuesday Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX) and Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) each received a $20M firm-fixed-price contract, which includes risk-reduction demonstration for signal-chain processing.
