Pat Gelsinger: VMware Targets New Gov’t Cloud Support Opportunity

Pat Gelsinger, VMware CEO, has said he believes the company's partnerships with multiple cloud providers could support its pursuit of additional contracts in the government market, Fierce Telecom reported Wednesday. "We do expect that through those partnerships that we'll have a thriving government business, both on-premise as we have had as well as in hybrid and cloud offerings," Gelsinger told analysts during a recent earnings call.

Unisys Lands $144M NOAA Cloud Transition Services BPA

Unisys (NYSE: UIS) booked a potential five-year, $144M contract during the third quarter to help the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration migrate agency operations to a cloud computing environment. "We look forward to assisting NOAA as it moves forward to modernize its IT operations in support of its crucial mission in support of climate science, the environment and the overall U.S. economy," said Gary Wang, vice president of cloud, infrastructure and security services at Unisys' federal business.
