Rolls-Royce Secures $188.9M Coast Guard Cutter Deal

The U.S. Coast Guard, which operates within the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, has awarded Rolls-Royce Solutions America, or RRSA, a firm-fixed-price contract valued at up to $188.9 million for dockside scheduled maintenance and emergent repairs of its large maritime security cutters.

What Does the Contract Cover?

Under the contract, RRSA will work on the main propulsion diesel engines on its 418-foot cutter fleet. The agreement requires the contractor to provide all labor, materials, equipment and technical expertise necessary to perform scheduled and emergency repairs in Alameda, California; Charleston, South Carolina; Honolulu, Hawaii; and other locations worldwide as needed.

The Contractor must also conduct both initial and post-repair operational tests and submit detailed condition found reports to the Coast Guard and support both dock and sea trials. RRSA has developed a Quality Assurance Plan, which covers parts delivery, installation and equipment testing, to minimize technical risks throughout the project.

The anticipated period of performance is 10 years, including options.
