United Launch Alliance has received an $860.8 million contract modification to help the U.S. Air Force carry out Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle missions in fiscal year 2017.
The Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) joint venture will continue to provide Delta IV and Atlas V rockets as well as perform systems engineering, integration,  launch infrastructure sustainment and base and range operations support under the EELV program, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
The AF Space and Missile Systems Center obligated $94.7 million at the time of award of the modification from the military branch’s fiscal 2015 missile procurement funds and fiscal 2016 space procurement funds.
ULA has also supported the Air Force’s efforts to send national security payloads into space with the launch service provider’s Atlas and Delta EELVs during FY 2016 under a separate $882 million contract modification awarded Sept. 30 last year.
Last week, ULA and SMC entered into a cooperative research-and-development agreement to implement non-recurring design validation activities on the Vulcan Centaur rocket technology to support the former’s effort to obtain national security launch certification for the Vulcan system.
