Trellix, a company specializing in intelligence-led cyber resilience, has appointed cybersecurity veteran Joe Chen as chief technology officer, succeeding Steve Tait, who had served in the role on an interim basis.

What Will Joe Chen Oversee at Trellix?

The San Jose, California-based company said Tuesday Chen will oversee its cybersecurity strategy, engineering execution and research and development operations as Trellix advances its cyber resilience portfolio to address evolving threats. He will also help strengthen the company’s secure product development practices and streamline processes for delivering advanced cybersecurity capabilities to the market.

Chen will work with Alex Au Yeung, who joined Trellix as chief product officer in March, to develop advanced security technologies for the AI era. Au Yeung was appointed as part of a broader leadership expansion that also included the hiring of Zachary Nelson as chief human resources officer.

Who Is Joe Chen?

Chen brings more than 25 years of experience leading cybersecurity and product engineering initiatives, with a strong track record of transforming product portfolios for global security providers.

Before joining Trellix, Chen served as an operating partner at Crosspoint Capital, where he focused on engineering transformation initiatives. He was vice president of engineering at Broadcom, Symantec and Carbon Black, where he led global teams focused on machine learning-driven threat detection, network security and endpoint protection.

Vishal Rao, CEO of Trellix, described Chen as a proven technology leader with a talent for simplifying complex challenges and driving innovation at scale.
