- Draft solicitation outlines broad R&D scope with industry feedback due by June 15
The Air Force Research Laboratory has released a draft solicitation for its revived AFRL Multiple Award Contract vehicle, or AMAC. The updated notice, posted Thursday on SAM.gov, follows the April cancellation of the original AMAC solicitation, which enabled AFRL to reevaluate the program’s requirements and acquisition strategy.
The AFRL’s continued focus on science and technology R&D signals ongoing investment in advanced capabilities for the Air Force and Space Force. What Work Will the Contract Support?
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will support a broad range of unclassified research and development efforts for the Air Force and Space Force. The potential $10 billion science and technology contract vehicle will focus on four technical areas of interest, including air and space technologies, cybersecurity, electronic warfare and multi-domain operations. It will also support prototyping and technology transition initiatives intended to accelerate the delivery of emerging capabilities to operational use.
What Areas Will the Contract Cover?
The contract will cover basic and applied research, data science and analytics, technology development, digital architecture using model-based systems engineering, modeling and simulation, manufacturing and fabrication, experimentation and testbed development, and integration and demonstration activities.
The contract includes a five-year base period and three one-year option periods. Responses to the draft request for proposals are due June 15.
