Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has won a potential three-year, $108.3M contract from the U.S. Air Force to conduct technology maturation and risk reduction efforts to support the development of a reentry vehicle for the W87-1 nuclear warhead.
The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center awarded the Mk21A Re-entry Vehicle project after a competitive solicitation and the service branch will obligate $8M at the time of award, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
Work will take place in King of Prussia, Pa., through October 2022.
