Leidos Secures $875M Navy Contract for Enterprise Network Support

The U.S. Navy has awarded Leidos an $875 million contract for the second option year of the Next Generation Enterprise Network Service Management Integration and Transport contract, the Reston, Virginia-based company said Monday.

What Does the Contract Cover?

Leidos said the contract, which aligns with its NorthStar 2030 strategy, covers continued support for the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, the Outside the Continental U.S. Navy Enterprise Network and the Marine Corps Enterprise Network. Leidos originally won the potential $7.7 billion NGEN-R SMIT contract in 2020 to provide network services for the three environments, including network operations, electronic software delivery, endpoint detection, logistics management, and end-user core build services.

The company will handle user support, operations and IT transformation work, managing more than 425,000 devices at more than 2,500 sites worldwide. The work helps ensure that over 650,000 Navy and Marine Corps members have secure connections.

According to Steve Hull, president of Leidos Digital and a 2025 Wash100 Award winner, military and civilian personnel depend on these networks to communicate, make decisions and conduct missions. He said Leidos is working to keep the technology secure, resilient and ready.

What Has Leidos Delivered so Far?

Leidos said it has used automation for network device patching under the contract awarded in 2020. The company assumed responsibility for IT operations of the three networks in 2021 after completing the contract’s transition phase.

According to Leidos, the technology has made patch delivery to network devices 93 percent faster and enterprise-wide patching 94 percent faster. The company said the changes are intended to address vulnerabilities sooner and limit potential disruptions to personnel using the networks.
