Kathryn Simpson, vice president and associate general counsel of the mission systems sector at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), has been promoted to corporate VP and general counsel in a move that takes effect Oct. 30.
She will take over the responsibility of overseeing Northrop’s legal affairs from the retiring Sheila Cheston and will report directly to Northrop Chair, President and CEO Kathy Warden, the company said Wednesday.
Simpson joined the Falls Church, Virginia-based contractor in 2012 as VP and general counsel after a 17-year career with the legacy Raytheon Company.
Prior to Raytheon, she was attorney-adviser at the U.S. International Trade Commission. The University of Iowa graduate worked as associate at Foley and Lardner’s securities department and international transactions practice.
Northrop said Cheston intends to retire Dec. 1 after 13 years of service to the company.
