The U.S. Navy has exercised the third option period on indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts with BAE Systems, General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) and Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) to maintain the military branch’s amphibious ships.
Each contractor will have the chance to vie for complex, emergent and continuous maintenance orders under firm-fixed-price contract modifications, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
All three companies secured IDIQs worth potentially $1.32B combined in 2016 to help the Navy sustain amphibious warfare and surface combatant vessels.
The exercised option extends the period of performance through March 2020.
