Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has won a potential $511 million contract to help the U.S. Air Force maintain, operate and sustain the military branch’s Cobra Dane radar system.
The company’s intelligence, information and services business will perform work under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract at Eareckson Air Station in Alaska through March 2025, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
Cobra Dane is designed to gather data on foreign ballistic missile activities during exoatmospheric and early endo-atmospheric phases of flight.
The radar uses a 95-foot diameter phased array built to detect approximately 120 objects at once.
