The State Department has cleared Iraq’s request to purchase major defense equipment such as Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) Hellfire missiles and Captive Air Training Missiles under a potential $800 million foreign military sale contract.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Thursday the order includes 5, 000 AGM-114K/N/R Hellfire missiles, 10 114K M36E9 CATMs and defense services.
DSCA noted that the proposed sale works to support the Iraqi security forces’ combat operations against the Islamic State militant group as well as future contingency operations.
