The Department of Defense said Thursday the firm-fixed-price contract covers the production of 406,384 units of Next Generation Integrated Head Protection Systems, or NG IHPS. The Wichita, Kansas-based company will also supply the Army with night vision device brackets.
What Is A Next Generation Integrated Head Protection System?
The NG IHPS is an enhanced headgear designed to provide head protection to mounted and dismounted soldiers. The combat helmet safeguards the user from handgun, moderate rifle and fragmenting munitions. Each NG IHPS is composed of a base ballistic shell modular helmet with retention, suspension and maxillofacial protective systems. It also comes with a helmet cover, hearing protection and the NVD bracket.
