Kongsberg Receives $241M Air Force Contract for Joint Strike Missiles

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has secured a potential three-year, $240.9 million contract from the U.S. Air Force for Joint Strike Missile Lot 2 production.

The Department of War said Friday the sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract includes the procurement of all up rounds with containers, test hardware and support items.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida is obligating the full contract amount using procurement missile funding for fiscal years 2024 and 2025.

Work will take place in Kongsberg, Norway, through Nov. 30, 2028.

In 2024, Kongsberg received a $141 million contract from the Air Force for JSM Lot 1 production.

What Is the Joint Strike Missile?

JSM is based on the technology of Kongsberg’s Naval Strike Missile, which is designed to provide militaries with strike capability against maritime and ground targets.

The missile is equipped with an advanced mission planning system for land and sea geography exploits and an imaging infrared seeker for automatic target recognition. It also features a navigation system and low altitude flight profile.
