General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) NASSCO subsidiary has won a potential $98.3 million contract to help the U.S. Navy implement a docking phased maintenance availability effort for USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19).
NASSCO will provide human resources and facilities to support the maintenance, repair and modernization of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock in fiscal year 2018, the Defense Departmentsaid Tuesday.
Two offers were submitted to the Naval Sea Systems Command for the firm-fixed-price contract through a full and open competition on the FedBizOpps website.
The Navy will obligate $83.1 million at the time of award from its FY 2018 operations and maintenance; and “other” procurement funds.
DoD said the service branch competed the LPD 19 long-term availability effort on an East coast-wide basis.
NASSCO will perform contract work at a ship repair facility in Norfolk, Virginia, through May 2019.
