General Electric™s aviation business has been awarded a $143.7M contract modification by the U.S. Navy to continue manufacturing engines to power CH-53K heavy-lift cargo helicopters.
The award covers low-rate initial production of T408-GE-400 engines, related equipment, spares and support services, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
GE Aviation will supply three lot 2 engines and 24 lot 3 turboshaft engines under the modification. Work will take place in Lynn, Mass., through December 2022.
The Naval Air Systems Command will obligate the modification™s full amount at the time of award from the Navy™s fiscal 2018 and 2019 aircraft procurement funds.
