L3Harris to Modernize Space Force Ground Systems Under $150M MOSSAIC Contract

L3Harris Technologies has secured a $150 million contract from the U.S. Space Force to modernize critical ground systems under the Maintenance of Space Situational Awareness Integrated Capabilities, or MOSSAIC, program.

The Florida-headquartered company said Tuesday the contract will support military operations and civil and commercial applications.

Space has become a critical domain in modern warfighting. At the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Air and Space Summit on July 30, military leaders will discuss the capabilities that warfighters need to maintain superiority in the space domain. Industry representatives will also explore current and future technologies to combat emerging threats and challenges in orbit. Register today to secure your spot.

What Is the MOSSAIC Program?

The MOSSAIC program delivers surveillance data to enable earlier threat warning and support faster decision-making to safeguard space systems.

“MOSSAIC underscores the confidence Space Force places in our ability to deliver advanced capabilities that strengthen space domain awareness,” stated Jeff Hanke, president of space systems for L3Harris Space & Mission Systems. “We are leveraging decades of ground systems experience and rapid innovation to give warfighters earlier threat detection, faster response and the assurance needed to prevail in a contested domain.”

L3Harris also secured contracts in 2020, 2022 and 2023 for the maintenance of key military technologies and infrastructure under MOSSAIC.

What Other Space Force Programs Does L3Harris Support?

L3Harris has been providing critical capabilities for other space-related efforts, including the Space Force’s Sounding Rocket Program-4, or SRP-4, and the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture, or PWSA.

In December, the company, alongside three other firms, secured other transaction authority agreements totaling $3.5 billion to build 72 satellites for PWSA Tranche 3. PWSA is a Space Development Agency initiative to build a layered constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit to protect the nation against missile threats and deliver space capabilities for warfighters.

In 2024, the Space Force awarded a spot to L3Harris on a potential $877 million follow-on contract for suborbital launch support services under SRP-4.
