A Note From Our President & Founder Jim Garrettson
Government contractors and agencies received two pieces of certainty this week as President Obama signed the FY 2015 omnibus spending package into law and the Senate sent the FY 2015 defense authorization bill to the White House.
Those events cap off an active year in the GovCon sector that saw several of its major players either combine forces or make acquisitions, realign their organizations in an effort to adjust to new realities and reorganize the executive teams that steer their companies in an evolving market.
The headwinds of sequestration and budget shifts in agencies toward technology-focused areas such as cybersecurity and healthcare were among the major drivers of moves by GovCon firms to stay on growth-oriented trajectories.
âAgency executives have been forced to design plans often without assurances of budgetary support, and often with a record decline in net spending, â Sullivan told our staff.
Sullivan also said this trend puts stress on the federal workforce and results in âsubsequent impacts on agency technology operations, technology adoption and on the federal vendor community.”
To start its 2015 event lineup, the Potomac Officers Club will host its ‘2015 Intel Summit‘ on Jan. 21. and National Intelligence Director James Clapper will deliver the keynote address in a half-day forum for GovCon executives and agency leaders.
Other speakers scheduled to appear include: (list ordered by headshots from left to right)
- David Shedd, acting DIA director
- Jim Martin, DoDÂ defense intelligence director
- Joe DeTrani, INSA president
- Michael Allen, a managing director at Beacon Global Strategies
- Janice Glover-Jones, acting DIA CIO (will become full-time CIO on Dec. 28)
