Lockheed Receives $1.1B Modification for F-35 Lot 20, 21 Long-Lead Materials

Lockheed Martin has secured a $1.14 billion modification to an existing advanced acquisition contract to procure additional long-lead materials, parts and components for F-35 Lot 20 and Lot 21 production aircraft. The Department of War announced the award Friday.

The modification provides additional funding for long-lead items tied to 65 Lot 20 aircraft and adds scope to support 133 Lot 21 aircraft for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, F-35 cooperative program partners and foreign military sales customers. Lockheed and its aeronautics business units will perform the work at Fort Worth, Texas, and other U.S. and international sites through December 2030.

Naval Air Systems Command is the contracting activity. The award was made without competition.

How Is the Funding Allocated for the Lockheed Lot 20 Contract?

At the time of award, the Pentagon obligated:

  • $188 million in fiscal 2026 Air Force aircraft procurement funds
  • $115.8 million in fiscal 2026 Navy aircraft procurement funds
  • $16.2 million in fiscal 2025 Air Force aircraft procurement funds
  • $38.9 million in fiscal 2025 Navy aircraft procurement funds
  • $556.6 million in FMS customer funds
  • $225.7 million in cooperative program partner funds

None of the obligated funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.

How Does Lockheed’s Contract Modification Relate to Earlier F-35 Lot 20 Awards?

The new action builds on the base contract worth $869.9 million awarded in November 2024 for long-lead materials, parts, components and support services for F-35 Lot 20 production aircraft used by U.S. services, non-DOW partners and FMS customers.
