MANTECH has named Douglas Orellana chief technology officer and vice president of its digital practice, the company announced in a LinkedIn post Saturday.
What Will Douglas Orellana Do at MANTECH?
Orellana will lead the development and expansion of MANTECH’s digital practice, including capabilities in intelligent engineering, cloud and tactical asymmetric systems. He will focus on advancing digital engineering and other emerging technologies through advanced computing, modeling and simulation, automation and artificial intelligence.
The appointment comes as MANTECH continues to build out its Technology and Capabilities Organization, which was established when Brandy Durham became CTO in July after serving as the chief data and AI officer since January. The organization includes the company’s data and AI, cybersecurity and digital practices.
MANTECH also elevated Kristen Summers to chief data and AI officer to succeed Durham and named Eric Brown chief product officer, adding leadership for its data and AI strategy and technology product portfolio.
Who Is Douglas Orellana?
Orellana is a technology executive with more than a decade of experience in digital transformation, systems engineering and AI-powered innovation in advanced defense and emerging technologies. His engineering work has spanned unmanned vehicles, intelligence systems, radars, sonars and instrumentation and controls.
What Is Orellana’s Career Background?
He has spent six years at MANTECH, previously serving as VP of intelligent engineering for nearly two years and VP of intelligent systems engineering for four years.
Before joining MANTECH, he served as engineering solutions director and solutions development director at SAIC, where he oversaw the company’s shift toward augmented reality, data analytics and other digital technologies. He also held the titles of digital engineering platform chief engineer and chief solution architect, then SE&I platform chief engineer and senior principal solutions architect, delivering engineering strategy for national security, defense systems and federal civil customers.
Orellana began his career at Northrop Grumman, where he spent more than 11 years advancing from electronics engineer to senior systems engineer, then principal systems architect and ultimately manager of systems architecture and analysis.
