The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has selected FedData Technology Solutions to provide high performance computing capability in support of the Department of Defense’s Research, Development, Test and Evaluation community. According to a contract award notice posted Thursday on SAM.gov, the Maryland-based company will receive $169 million as part of the DOD’s High Performance Computing Modernization Program if all options are exercised.
The Army posted a proposal solicitation for the requirement in September. In the document, the military service specifically sought responses from companies that can on-ramp to an existing basic ordering agreement for supercomputer technology insertions.
The BOA was established in October 2021 with a five-year period of performance. A similar request for proposals was issued in 2022.
Advancing Defense Computing
The HPCMP aims to provide warfighters with computational capabilities at the edge. Under the program, the Pentagon plans to acquire, field and equip HPC systems at four DoD Supercomputing Resource Center, each with unique requirements.
The four DSRCs are located in Maryland, Mississippi and Ohio. The centers support research and development efforts across the Army, Air Force and Navy.
Under the agreement, FedData and other awardees will provide commercially available and production-grade HPC capable of conducting complex, large-scale, scientific calculations.
FedData will participate in the program until the BOA’s completion date in 2026.
