Hello, Guest!

Department of the Air Force CIO Lauren Knausenberger Receives 2021 Wash100 Award From Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson

Lauren Knausenberger, chief information officer for the Department of the Air Force, was presented her first Wash100 Award by Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson during a recent 4×24 membership dinner.

This marks the first time that Knausenberger has received the most prestigious and celebrated award in all of government contracting (GovCon). In the record-shattering 2021 Wash100 Popular Vote earlier this year, Knausenberger finished in second place behind an overwhelming show of support and participation from the GovCon community.

“Federal service is hard and it takes a lot of luck and perseverance to get things done,” Knausenberger explained at the time. “It’s incredibly rewarding, nothing else comes close.  Let’s keep all of these warfighters and civil servants fueled with knowledge of their amazing impact!”

Executive Mosaic recognized Knausenberger with her first Wash100 Award for her leadership and drive for innovation to advance information technology and modernization efforts for the Air Force as well as the complete digital transformation of the service branch’s technical capabilities.

With the Wash100 Award aiming to recognize the accomplishments of the federal landscape’s most elite leaders, it’s also becoming a benchmark in the GovCon industry to recognize the most significant executives of consequence who will have the biggest impact on the year to come.

Throughout her 2021, Knausenberger has worked tirelessly to drive innovation and lead the U.S. Air Force to stay ahead of the curve as the immense challenges across the federal landscape continue to influence how federal leaders do business and ensure U.S. global superiority.

During an interview with Fedscoop in June, Knausenberger discussed the concept of attacking manual processes and advancing automation within a number of the Air Force’s legacy systems to save time and money while also driving qualified parties to focus on higher-value work.

“We’re at the point where we’ve shown that we can do [automation] very effectively and where we have a lot of our new projects naturally leaning toward more automated processes,” Knausenberger said. “And you get more automated processes organically, of course, by adopting cloud environments with built-in services that help take away a lot of the manual work of maintaining an environment the way we’ve done in legacy infrastructure.”

Executive Mosaic is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2022 Wash100 Award selection through Dec. 31st, 2021. Visit Wash100.com to submit your nominations and learn more about the highly prestigious history of the Wash100 Award and the most recent class of winners from 2021.

In addition, Lauren Knausenberger has also shared her thoughts on the potential impact of the DoD’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program and continued to be a leading force for the progression of digital transformation and advanced tech capabilities for the Air Force and the other military branches across the federal government.

“To our airmen: As we drive toward that digital future, we’re going to do our best to make it all about you,” she said. “You joined the Air Force to make a difference and to bring the best of what you can contribute to this incredible mission — and everything we deliver will be focused on empowering you to best serve that mission because you’re the ones that are out there fighting.”

Executive Mosaic congratulates Lauren Knausenberger for her first 2021 Wash100 Award. Her contributions to the Air Force continue to drive digital transformation for U.S. service branches and federal agencies. Her drive for innovation and leadership has established Knausenberger as one of the most significant names in the GovCon industry and federal sector.
