Battelle Awarded $415M DLA Contract for Mask Decontamination Systems

The Defense Logistics Agency has ordered 60 mask decontamination units from Battelle through the award of a potential $415M contract on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Lt. Col. Mike Andrews, a Department of Defense spokesman, said in a statement released Monday the nonprofit company will provide systems designed to sanitize as many as 80K N95 mask respirators each on a daily basis.

Such technology allows for reuse of respiratory protective devices up to 20 times.

DoD’s Joint Acquisition Task Force has distributed six units of CCDS at various facilities in New York, Boston, Washington, Chicago and Ohio.

The Pentagon expects full availability of all 60 decontaminators to HHS and the Federal Emergency Management Agency early next month.
