Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) broke ground on a facility in Utah to support the U.S. Air Force’s intercontinental ballistic missile modernization project.
The company said Tuesday its future Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program office near Hill AF Base will open in mid-2020 and create more than 2K jobs in the state.
Kathy Warden, chairman, CEO and president of Northrop and four-time Wash100 winner, said the company has supported the service branch’s ICBM programs over the six past decades.
œModernizing the current ICBM system is a national security priority, and we are proud to be here today to reinforce our commitment to the U.S. Air Force on GBSD and our readiness to deliver on this critical mission, Warden added.
Northrop is competing with Boeing (NYSE: BA) for the program’s engineering and manufacturing development contract.
