Kathryn Sullivan
Kathryn Sullivan, a retired NASA astronaut and former head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has joined the board of managers at Accenture‘s (NYSE: ACN) federal arm.
She will offer her perspective on innovation, growth and vision of Accenture Federal Services in her new role, the company said Thursday.
œWe welcome her experience and insight as we continue to evolve our company and help our clients stay ahead of their changing mission needs,” said John Goodman, chief executive of AFS and a 2019 Wash100 winner.
Sullivan held a 15-year career at NASA and is known for being the first woman in U.S. history to walk in space. She was part of the team that launched the agency’s Hubble Space Telescope in 1990 and supported two other space shuttle missions.
After NASA, she served in various government senior executive roles such as National Science Board chief scientist.
She worked as an oceanographer at the U.S. Navy Reserve between 1988 and 2006.
