The State Department has approved a possible $420 million foreign military sale of F/A-18 C/D support services and spares to Kuwait.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agencysaid Thursday Kuwait’s request covers F/A-18 avionics software and engine component upgrades, ground support equipment, engine and aircraft spares and repair parts, publications and technical documentation, engineering change proposals as well as programmatic, financial and logistics support.
DSCA added the sale also involves maintenance, engineering, F404 engine and engine test cell services as well as liaison office support for five Kuwait liaison offices.
Kay and Associates, Boeing (NYSE: BA), Industrial Acoustics, General Electric and Sigmatech will serve as principal contractors for the sale.
The FMS will require 275 contractor representatives to travel to Kuwait over a three-year period to provide support, DSCA said.
The agency further said the proposed sale meets U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives.
